Women's Health
A regularly scheduled mammography can significantly increase the survival rate for women with breast cancer. A mammography, which is the best screening examination available today, can detect 2-3 times as many early breast cancers as physical examination. A baseline mammography is recommended for women between the ages of 35 to 40. An annual screening mammography is recommended for women beginning at age 40.

The approximate time for a screening mammography is 15 minutes.

A diagnostic mammography takes approximately 30 minutes. Reasons for diagnostic mammographys include: patients who have breast implants; patients with abnormal breast symptoms; and patients with breast abnormality or suspicion from their screening mammography.

Ultra sound is used with mammography in women with dense breast tissue to determine whether a lump in the breast is a cystic lump or a solid lump.

In order to better serve our patients and give them the care they deserve, Medical Park Imaging is proud to introduce our CAD (Computer-Aided) Technology Image Checker. The Image Checker does not replace imaging technology; rather it is an interpretive aid for radiologists. The software identifies features on images and brings them to the attention of the radiologists. The CAD system is approved by the FDA for mammography and can detect more than 20% of cancers.
